Resume Building/ Job Search Class
Self, Inc. offers computer classes to members of the organization, whether it is consumers or staff members. These classes take place at Shelia Denis House on Mondays and Tuesdays, and at Outley House on Wednesdays and Thursdays. At these classes, we help individuals with rebuilding resumes, interview skills, job search, and basic computer knowledge, such as Windows applications; Power Point, Excel, Word.

The Aftercare Program's main goal is to ensure that the members of the recovery community continue to apply the information and recovery tools they obtain while in treatment in order to move forward to the next phase and begin a manifestation process. It is not another group that members attend to discuss their addiction and addictive behaviors.
It is Self Inc.'s desire that once the members complete the program they will have obtained a sense of independence and a greater self-sufficiency. The Aftercare Program encourages members to continue to experience the rewards of sobriety.
What does the Aftercare Program Have to Offer?
The Aftercare Program is a twelve week course. It has been divided into four different topics. These topics will assist the members to continue growing and maturing in their process as well as pursuing the goals they developed while in treatment. The four topics included in the Aftercare Program are:
- Mental and Emotional Transformation
- Developing Financial Stability
- Housing Options
- Spiritual Makeover
What are these sessions about?
Mental and Emotional Transformation is a four week session that teaches emotional and mental wholeness. This session was designed to teach members how to eliminate negative thought patterns about themselves, and adjust to thinking positive thoughts as well as reach for higher goals. These sessions cover: how to remove mental limitations that cause people to think less of their self; how to think "Outside of the Box" in regards to pursuing their goals. The members will be provided with writing assignments, role-playing, creative thinking, and intense group discussions.
Developing Financial Stability is a two week session that will provide the members with extremely valuable information concerning their finances. These sessions will cover: banking and credit union options; learning how to open accounts, and invest; budgeting; and opening special accounts for their children. These sessions will be helpful as they obtain employment and need to know which institutions would be best for them and their family.
Housing Options is a two week session that will assist the members begin their search for suitable housing for themselves and their family. Volunteers from various housing organizations will assist members in: understanding how to take advantage of first time home buyer programs; how to save for their first home; learning about mortgages and property taxes; what to look for in an apartment; finding the safest and most affordable neighborhood; and recognizing the responsibility it takes to maintain a home, whether it is an apartment or a house.
Spiritual Makeover is a four week session concerning developing a spiritual foundation as a part of their everyday life. These sessions will teach members: the difference between spirituality and religion; to find their higher power; to be comfortable with their own spiritual beliefs; using prayer as a strength builder; and developing and using their faith to believe and achieve their goals in life. These sessions will also assist members in taking their self-esteem and self-awareness to a higher dimension and build their character.
